PART – A (10 x 2 = 20 marks)

1. Name the methods used to determine Tg of polymers.
2. How is melt flow index of polymer determined?
3. How is water absorption behaviour of plastics determined? Mention its usefulness characteristics of plastics?
4. What is called 'Limiting oxygen index'? How is it useful to predict flammability characteristics of plastics?
5. Give the sample specimen size for (i) Tensile strength (ii) Dielectric strength measurements.
6. How is thermal expansion coefficients of plastics measured? Mention its importance.
7. How is arc resistance of plastics determined? Mention its significance.
8. What is 'permanent set'? How is it determined?
9. How is 'haze' behaviour of film determined?
10. How is flexural strength of plastics specimen determined?
